KEYWORDS: Molecular Rectifiers, Self-Assembled Molecular Networks, surface functionalisation, charge transfer, organic electronics
The candidate will be working on the design and synthesis of novel, self-assembling molecular networks (SAMNs) for current rectification. This PhD project will focus on the design of different molecular building blocks to optimize contact quality, minimize contact resistance, and improve interface capacitance. Additionally, we will investigate various electron donor and acceptor components to efficiently tune intermolecular charge transfer, identified as a crucial factor in enhancing rectifier performance. The developed SAMNs will be tailored for adsorption on diverse conductive substrates.
